The Cusco Region - Peru

Group of Folk dancers and Musicians - Cusco

Folk dancer Cusco Peru
One of the many fascinating things about Peru is you never know what's around every corner. Above is a snapshot video I took on my camera in Cusco shortly after arriving by bus from Pisac in the Sacred Valley. It's not part of any grand festival it's a group of dancers and musicians who had gathered in a small square in front of a church in the San Blas district of Cusco.
Musicians at a Folk Dance - Cusco Peru

They really were into their music, dancing and costumes. It was around three in the afternoon and they generated a great atmosphere. Lot's of locals who sometimes joined in, obviously knew them. It was a very genial affair and not put on for tourists. It was unexpected, exotic and fascinating. Typical of Peru - I love it!

Cusco is the ancient capital of the Incas and the region is also famous for the Inca Trail and Machu Picchu. A lot more information coming soon. Meanwhile here's a small selection of pics from the main Peruvian Andes Gallery which you can see here....
